How do I get the oculus controller battery cover off?

Begin by turning off and disconnecting the Oculus Controller from any device. Then, carefully pry up any edges of the battery cover with a flat object, like a thin, plastic knife. Be careful not to scratch the rubberized exterior of the Oculus Controller.

Gently lift the battery cover off of the controller. If the battery cover is stuck, gently use the flat object to press down on the spots where the clip posts are located in order to dislodge the battery cover.

Remove the battery cover with care and store it in a safe place.

Do Oculus controllers have batteries?

Yes, Oculus controllers do have batteries. The Oculus Touch controllers use one AA battery each, and the Oculus Go controller requires an internal rechargeable battery. The battery life of the Oculus controllers varies based on usage, but a fresh AA battery will typically last for weeks of regular use.

The Oculus Go controller has a battery life of around 2-3 hours depending on how intensively you use it. The Oculus controllers should indicate in the app when the battery is running low on charge.

What do you do when your Oculus controller dies?

When your Oculus controller dies, you should check the battery first. Make sure the batteries are inserted properly and functioning correctly. If the batteries are good, you should check the USB port it’s connected to and see if it’s working.

If the USB port is working, then the issue may be with the controller itself. You can try cleaning the controller with compressed air or a small brush. If that doesn’t help, you may need to replace the controller or look into getting it repaired.

If none of these solutions work, then you may need to contact Oculus support for further assistance.

Why is my Quest 2 controller not working?

If your Oculus Quest 2 controller is not working, there are a few possible explanations. First, make sure that your controller is correctly paired to your headset. The headset can only be paired to one controller at a time.

If your controller is not paired, then you will need to disable pairing on your headset and then repair the controller again.

Another issue could be low battery. Open the Oculus app on your smartphone and check the battery level of the controller. Replace the batteries if necessary. Lastly, make sure that your controller is not in pointing mode.

Pointing mode is designed to enable semi-autonomous use of the controller as a pointer. Make sure that the controller tracking indicators on your headset show good tracking. If these all look good, then it may be time for an update.

Check for available firmware updates on your app. If you’re still having issues, try resetting your controller by holding down the system button until the LED on the controller turns off, then turn it back on.

If none of these steps help, then you may have a hardware issue and need to contact Oculus Customer Care for assistance.

Why is my Oculus battery draining so fast?

There can be several reasons why your Oculus battery is draining so fast. One possible reason may be that you are not optimizing your settings. Check if you have set up your Oculus to Auto-standby Mode and enable it if you have not.

This will turn the Oculus off after a certain period of no usage. Additionally, make sure you have disabled the guardian and passthrough mode when not in use. You should also check the battery maintenance settings, since some Oculus models are designed to help prolong the battery life.

For example, the battery will drain when you are using low-performance mode or if you leave the sensors on for long periods without using them.

Another reason your Oculus battery may be draining fast is because it is wearing out. Batteries run out of charge over time, so it is natural for the battery life to slowly decrease. If your Oculus is an older model, you may need to replace the battery altogether.

Finally, make sure you have plugged your Oculus into a power source if you are using it for extended periods. The battery will continue to run down if the Oculus is not connected to power. Even if the Oculus is plugged in to charge, the battery may still drain if the Oculus is turned on and used regularly.

How are Oculus controllers powered?

The Oculus controllers are powered by AA batteries. The controllers themselves feature a precision tracking system capable of 360 degree tracking, allowing you to move your hands, gestures and game objects with accuracy in virtual reality.

The controllers feature built-in rechargeable batteries, but can also use normal AA batteries.

Oculus recommends using alkaline or lithium-ion cells for optimal performance. It is possible to use rechargeable batteries, however Oculus doesn’t officially recommend using them and it may reduce the longevity of the controllers over time.

When using the Oculus controllers, you can check the controller battery indicator by opening the Oculus app and navigating to Devices > Accessories. In the app, the battery level will appear next to the controller.

How do you take the sides off Oculus 2?

Removing the sides of an Oculus 2 requires a basic understanding of how plastic clips, screws and bolts work. To begin, unplug all wires connected to the headset and faceplate, including power and all other wiring.

With the wires disconnected, locate the screws on the back of the headset and remove with a Phillips Screwdriver.

Next, locate the seam on either side of the headset where the faceplate and main plastic body meet. Using your hands, carefully jostle the plastic clips holding the two halves of the headset together until the two halves separate.

Then, pry apart the left and right side of the body with a flathead screwdriver and remove the screws that hold the side panels to the main body of the headset. With the screws removed, pull the sides away from the main body, releasing the clips holding the sides in place.

You may need to use the flathead screwdriver to slightly lift the sides off of the plastic frame until they become disconnected.

Finally, carefully pull the wires which are now disconnected from the side of the headset away and set aside to ensure they don’t get damaged while you reinstall the sides of the headset. After the side panels are removed, you can now access the inside of the Oculus 2 headset.

Why were Oculus Quest 2 recalled?

The Oculus Quest 2 was recalled in November 2020 due to a safety issue involving the device’s straps. Specifically, the recall affects the Elite Strap with Battery and Elite Strap accessories that were sent with some Oculus Quest 2 headsets.

Oculus stated that the straps might cause the headset to overheat and possibly ignite, resulting in a burn hazard. As a result, Oculus issued a voluntary recall of all affected devices and offered refunds to customers who had purchased the Elite Strap accessories.

In addition to this hardware issue, there were also some other reported complaints about the Oculus Quest 2 headset. Some customers have reported that their headsets were not working properly, with audio or video not working correctly.

Others have complained of discomfort when wearing the device, due to the design of the straps and headband. Others have reported a decrease in performance or battery life, or sudden shut-downs of the headset.

As a precautionary measure, it is recommended that customers double-check all Oculus Quest 2 device components for signs of malfunction and regularly inspect their device’s hardware and straps to ensure they remain safe to use.
