How long do reel drafts last?

Reel drafts, sometimes referred to as slow drafts, typically last much longer than traditional drafts. The time needed for a slow draft can vary widely depending on the size of the league, the format of the draft, and the number of rounds for each team.

Generally speaking, a slow draft can take anywhere from 1 day to 1 week (or more depending on the league size and format). Depending on the league commissioner’s discretion, a slow draft can use a draft clock that ticks down a specific amount of time, with each team having the choice to select their players in the timeframe they have been provided.

In this way, slower drafts can be designed to allow each team the opportunity to thoroughly vet their options before making their picks. On the other hand, some league commissioners simply allow a set amount of time per round, such as 1 day, 3 days, or even a week, before all teams move onto the next round.

Therefore, the amount of time needed for a slow draft can vary and is dependent on the decisions of the league commissioner.
