How long do Blink cameras keep footage?

Blink cameras feature a rolling cloud storage system, so customers can keep their footage as long as they would like to without worrying about running out of storage. All Blink camera plans include free cloud storage up to 5GB, which will store approximately 7,200 seconds or 2 hours of video clips.

For extra storage and longer video clip availability, customers can upgrade to the 30-day video Cloud Storage Plan which will give them up to 60GB of storage (compared to the standard 5GB). This allows customers to store recordings for up to 1,200 hours – the equivalent of 50 days – of video clips from their Blink cameras.

How long do Blink recordings last?

The duration of recordings with Blink home security cameras varies depending on the specific model and configuration. The Blink XT2 Outdoor/Indoor camera has the longest recording time when motion is detected—up to two years with two AA lithium batteries.

When the camera detects motion, it automatically records a short video clip with a length of 15 to 60 seconds, depending on the settings you have chosen. With this model, you can also choose to have 24/7 recording turned on in order to capture activity happening at all times.

The other models, Blink Mini and Blink Indoor, have a maximum recording time of 60,000 seconds (approximately 16 hours) with two AA lithium batteries, or 330,000 seconds (approximately 3 and a half days) with two AA lithium batteries.

Similarly, when motion is detected, these cameras automatically record a video clip with a length of 15 to 60 seconds, depending on the settings you have selected.

All Blink cameras come with a free 7-day cloud storage subscription that allows you to preserve, review and share video clips from up to 30 days. If you’d like to store recordings for longer than 7 days, you can subscribe to a Blink cloud storage plan.

Does Blink keep your videos?

Yes. Blink provides an automatic video recording feature that securely stores all video recordings to the cloud. All recordings are encrypted using military grade encryption and are accessible via the Blink app on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

You also have the option to set recordings to be motion-activated, so that only recordings triggered by motion will be stored. With Blink, you can also store up to 7,200 seconds (2 hours) of video clips in the cloud, so you always have access to recent recordings.

You will also be able to playback your videos whenever you want, edit videos and delete clips you don’t need. And with the flexible plans, you’ll never have to worry about space or storage limitation with Blink.

How do I permanently save Blink videos?

First, if you’re using Blink Home Monitoring, you can set up scheduling recordings to expand the range of clips and footage you have stored. This will enable you to save footage permanently and access it any time you need it.

You can also manually save Blink video clips and store them directly to your device, like a computer or laptop. This will enable you to keep the videos on the device so you can access them at any time.

Additionally, if you have a Blink Sync Module, you can save your footage to the cloud, which will enable you to access the clips from any device, from anywhere, anytime.

Why do my Blink videos disappear?

Your Blink videos can disappear for a variety of reasons. Sometimes the video may simply be too large in size or exceed the specified recording time limit and thus it will not save. Additionally, if you have recently updated the firmware of your Blink device, the videos may be lost while while the device is installing the latest version.

Another possible cause could be that the memory card has become corrupted or the files have become damaged. If your video files are stored on a computer, then they may have been accidently misplaced or deleted.

Finally, it’s possible that the video was stored on a cloud server and the service became disrupted or went offline for some time. The best way to prevent your Blink videos from disappearing is to regularly back up your videos onto another memory source or an external hard drive.

Why is my Blink camera not saving recordings?

If your Blink camera is not saving recordings, there are a few possible causes that you should investigate. First, make sure your camera is connected to a reliable wi-fi connection. If the connection is not strong, the camera may not be able to save recordings.

Second, check the date and time settings on the camera to make sure they are set correctly. An incorrect date or time can cause issues with recording. Third, make sure you have enough memory on your device to save recordings.

Blink cameras have limited storage so if you have too many recordings stored, it could cause issues. Lastly, check the motion detection settings to make sure that the camera is only triggered when motion is detected.

If the motion settings are too sensitive, it can cause the camera to save a lot of recordings and eventually fill up the memory. If all else fails, restart the camera and monitor the settings to see if the issue is resolved.

Where are Blink videos stored?

Blink videos are stored on the secure Blink cloud storage system, which uses Amazon Web Services (AWS). All videos that are captured by Blink devices are securely stored in the cloud and can be accessed through the Blink app.

The app allows you to view your camera’s video feed, live stream, and retrieve recordings. When a recording is triggered, a secure link is generated which can be shared with others allowing them to access the video.

The videos are stored for free for the first 7 days, after which they are erased from the cloud if not saved to your device or downloaded.

How do I know if my Blink camera is recording?

To determine if your Blink camera is recording, you’ll need to access the blink app. Once you’ve opened up the Blink app, you can find a live view of your camera. By accessing the live view, you’ll be able to tell if your camera is actively recording or not.

When the Blink camera is active, the live view will indicate if the camera is recording by displaying a red strip on the bottom of the display that says ‘Recording’. If there is no red strip or if it says ‘Live’, then the camera is not recording at that time.

You can also start and stop recording via the live view by pressing the Record button (which is depicted by a round button with a dot in it). If the on-screen display says ‘Stopping’ then your camera is in the process of stopping recording.

You can also check the status of your camera from the main screen. On the main screen, you can view all of your Blink camera’s recordings by day. To check when the camera was activated, you can go to the timeline and you’ll find the times your camera has been activated, including recording times.

If you have more than one camera set up, you can keep track of their recording status through the Blink app. Simply head to the ‘Cameras’ tab and you’ll find a list of all of your cameras. If the icon beside your camera is lit up green then it’s recording and if the icon is a plain circle then your camera is not recording.

You can tap on the icon to start or stop recording with that specific camera.

To conclude, you can determine if your Blink camera is recording by accessing the live view on the Blink app, checking the on-screen display, or viewing the timeline in the app. You can also monitor the recording status of multiple cameras through the Blink app.

Does Blink record and save?

Yes, Blink cameras are designed to be a 24/7 home security solution, enabling users to both monitor and record activity around their property when they’re away and capture any unexpected events, intruders, or packages that have been delivered to their home.

While the cameras have no internal memory, they are designed to be used with the Blink Sync Module, a central hub allowing users to connect up to 10 Blink cameras and store the recorded video on the Sync Module itself.

Depending on the user’s requirements, the Sync Module can be paired with a local USB storage device or a cloud storage provider such as Amazon, where videos can also be stored. Once the recordings have been saved, users can access them from their smartphone using the Blink app, or via their web browser.

The recordings will stay in the cloud or on the USB device until the user manually deletes them or the memory is full, at which point the oldest video will be overwritten.

Is Blink always recording?

No, Blink is not always recording. This home security system uses Motion Detection to conserve battery life. When it detects motion, video recording is triggered. You can choose how long Blink records after it detects motion from 10, 30 or 60 seconds.

You can also control what type of motion triggers recording by setting up Motion Zones and setting specific sensitivities in the Blink App. Additionally, you can access your recordings or turn recording entirely off in the app.

Does Blink record without subscription?

Yes, Blink provides a free cloud storage option on all systems to allow you to store your recordings without subscribing. This cloud storage option is available for all video streams and motion events, with no limits on the number of events stored.

If you choose to subscribe to the Blink cloud service, then you will have access to additional cloud storage and additional features such as live streaming, remote monitoring and remote access. Blink also provides additional expansions and accessories to further enhance your recording capabilities, such as motion sensors and additional Blink cameras.

Do Blink cameras have local storage?

Yes, Blink cameras have local storage. The cameras have an onboard SD card slot to store video clips. The Blink cameras have motion-activated recording, so any motion that is detected gets recorded to the local storage.

It supports an SD card up to 32gb, meeting your various storage requirements. The local storage feature helps to preserve your recordings since cloud storage bills can be quite expensive. The local storage should provide you with plenty of space to store all your motion-activated recordings.

One downside with local storage is that it can be easy for someone to steal or damage your SD card if they have access to your camera. To keep your recordings safe, you may want to back them up periodically to your computer or other external storage device.
