What does archiving a Slack channel do?

How do I delete archived channels in Slack?

Start by logging into your workspace. Then click on the three-dot icon next to the channel in question and select “More options” from the menu. Then select “Archive channel” from the drop-down menu.

Once the channel is archived, you’ll need to go to the admin settings of your workspace. Select the “Channels” tab from the left-hand navigation panel. Here you’ll be able to view a list of your workspace’s channels, including archived ones.

Look for the channel you want to delete and click on the three-dot icon next to it. Select “Delete Channel” from the menu.

Once you confirm the deletion, the channel and its content will be permanently deleted. It will no longer appear in the list of channels in the workspace and cannot be recovered. Be aware that this action cannot be reversed, so be sure you are confident in deleting the channel before you confirm the action.

What happens when you close conversation in Slack?

When you close a conversation in Slack, it removes the conversation from the list of visible conversations in your sidebar. Depending on how the messages were organized, you may still see certain messages related to the conversation when looking at shared channels and direct messages.
