What happens when you return a pet to PetSmart?

When you return a pet to PetSmart, the pet will be taken to a local PetSmart Animal Care Center. There, the animal will receive a thorough health check, evaluation and any necessary medical treatment.

This ensures the animal is in good health and ready for adoption. The PetSmart Adoption Coordinator will then work to place the pet in an adoptive home. All PetSmart adoptions are fulfilled by PetSmart Charities or one of their rescue partner organizations.

PetSmart Charities’ network of adoption partners helps to ensure that all pets are carefully evaluated and matched with the right family. Additionally, all adopters are required to sign an adoption agreement and complete an adoption counseling session.

This helps to ensure the adoption is successful and that the pet will be placed in a safe and happy home. During the adoption process, adopters are encouraged to consider proper pet care, including cost and proper medical care.

Children may be allowed to join in the process, but must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

What does PetSmart do with returned fish?

PetSmart takes its responsibility toward pet care and fish health seriously, and therefore goes to great lengths to ensure that any fish that has been returned is handled in a safe, responsible manner.

If the fish is not suitable for adoption or placement in an in-Store Aquarium, PetSmart will carefully quarantine the fish, typically in a tank away from other fish. During this process, the aquatics team will carefully monitor the fish to ensure it is healthy and adjust the fish’s environment as needed.

If the fish is not suitable for adoption or placement into an in-Store Aquarium after the quarantine period, PetSmart will humanely euthanize the fish in accordance with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) guidelines.

What do you do with unwanted goldfish?

Can a fish survive being flushed down the toilet?

It is highly unlikely that a fish could survive being flushed down the toilet. To go down a toilet, water needs to rush pretty quickly and powerfully, likely faster than a fish could swim. The water pressure would likely cause damage to the fish, and the turbulence can cause the fish to slam against the toilet walls or other obstacles, which could easily kill a fish.

Additionally, when water carries waste, it contains toxic chemicals and bacteria that can quickly make the water toxic to a fish. Furthermore, a fish would have to somehow fight against the current to get back to the surface, and if it did, it would have to survive outside of its natural environment, unable to find food and shelter.

Even if the fish did manage to make it past those obstacles, the water it would be in is not fresh or clean, which can cause even more health problems for the fish. In short, it is highly unlikely that a fish could survive being flushed down the toilet.

How do I get rid of an unwanted fish tank?

If you have an unwanted fish tank that you need to get rid of, there are a few options for you. First, you can try to sell the tank and any associated equipment that came with it. Look online on sites such as eBay or Craigslist, or you can even try reaching out to local aquarium shops to see if they know anyone interested in buying the tank.

If you can’t find anyone who is interested in buying the tank, you could donate it to a school, animal shelter, or other non-profit organization. There are lots of places who would be happy to take the tank off your hands and put it to good use.

For tanks that can’t be re-used or donated, you can contact your local waste management services. Many areas have programs that allow you to safely dispose of large items like fish tanks in an environmentally friendly way.

Finally, if you have an especially large aquarium, you might be able to find a business that specializes in moving, recycling, and reusing aquariums. They would come to your home and take the aquarium away for free and usually offer a convenient and environment-friendly solution.

How do you sell fish?

Selling fish can be a rewarding experience, and there are several different methods that can be used to do so. Depending upon the kind of fish you wish to sell and how you want to market them, selling fish can require minimal effort or a larger, more organized effort.

The first way to sell fish is to take them to a local fish market or other type of market that sells fish. Here you will likely find professionals who will buy and barter for your fish. The market is an ideal place to sell since the professional buyers are likely familiar with the type of fish you are selling, and so have an idea of what a fair price for them should be.

The second way to sell fish is through ecommerce websites such as eBay or Craigslist. Here you can list your fish and give them a description, along with pictures and pricing. Potential buyers from all over the world can see your listings and decide whether or not to purchase your fish.

The third way to sell fish is to build up a customer base from local anglers and hobbyists. Advertising your services and prices to those who are frequenting your local fish stores, bait shops, or sports stores will get your name out the quickest and may generate the most business.

No matter how you choose to sell your fish, it is important to be honest, friendly, and transparent in your dealings. Providing excellent customer service and displaying knowledge of your fish can help you make many satisfied buyers, and also help to grow your little fish business.
