What Is Focal Point light?

Focal Point lighting is a type of lighting that is used to draw attention specifically to a designated area or object. This is done by using accent lights and fixtures such as wall sconces, chandeliers, pendants, lamps, and track lighting to create a highlighted area.

This type of lighting is great for creating a warm, inviting atmosphere and can be used to draw attention to artwork, furniture pieces, architectural features, sculptures, and outdoor environments. Generally, the object or area being highlighted is placed in the center of the room and the accent light is directed toward it.

Also, the lighting doesn’t have to come from a single source; it can be created by grouping several lights together to create a variety of different effects. Besides being used as an aesthetically pleasing element, Focal Point lighting can also be used to increase safety in dark areas by drawing the eye to the desired area.

When did CDW acquire focal point?

CDW acquired Focal Point in August 2020. Originally founded in 2007, Focal Point specialized in providing IT services to mid-sized and large organizations. The Milwaukee-based company had offices in Madison, Wisconsin, as well as Chicago, Illinois and Columbus, Ohio.

The primary driver for the acquisition was the complimentary suite of products and services that Focal Point offered to CDW’s existing portfolio. Focal Point was recognized for their specialized security solutions, IT professional services, digital workplace solutions and hosted cloud services.

These enhanced offerings would provide CDW the opportunity to offer even more flexibility and choice of IT solutions to their customers.

The company is expected to continue its private label vendor partnerships and will continue to be known as Focal Point within CDW’s portfolio of solutions. It will become a strategic partner in CDW’s Solutions and Services Group, which provides customers with a unique portfolio of consulting, managed and hosted IT services.

CDW’s Chief Strategic Leader of Solutions and Services, Matt Troka, said of the acquisition: ‘The combination of Focal Point’s portfolio of cloud, security, and IT services, with CDW’s unique understanding of our clients’ technology needs, will better enable us to help our customers succeed.

We are incredibly excited to bring Focal Point into the CDW family as it will help us expand our capabilities and better serve the needs of our customers in the Midwest and beyond. ”.

What does focally mean?

Focally refers to something that is focused on one particular aspect or element. It generally implies attention to detail and specificity. In medical terms, it means the inspection of one particular part or region of the body.

What is the central point called?

The central point of any given argument, discussion, or debate is referred to as the main point. It is the primary focus of the written or spoken communication and the main point that the speaker or author wants to communicate to the audience.

The central point is often the primary goal; it is the conclusion that one hopes to reach or the message that they hope to get across. It can be a summary of the main points made in the discussion, or a statement of the overall theme.

It may also be the resolution to an argument or the overarching message the author is trying to convey.

What are the parts of recessed lighting?

The parts of recessed lighting consist of a housing, trim, and a light bulb. The housing is installed in the ceiling, and typically requires an insulation box to ensure airtight and secure installation.

The trim is the decorative piece that surrounds the housing and light bulb and can be finished in various colors and styles. The light bulb can vary depending on the type of recessed light, but typically is a halogen, LED, or incandescent bulb.

In addition, the housing might also have other extra parts, such as a connector to the junction box, a reflector to adjust the direction of the light, or a diffuser to soften the intensity of the light.

Additionally, the trim might have additional parts, such as rims, trims, baffles, or lenses for adjusting the beam of light or changing the aesthetic of the overall design.

What color should recessed lighting trim be?

The answer to this question depends on several factors, including the color of the walls and ceiling, the size and shape of the room, and the type of lighting that has been chosen. Generally speaking, recessed lighting trim should match the ceiling and/or wall color.

If the ceiling and walls are white, for example, white should be the color of choice for the trim. If the walls are painted a neutral color, like cream or beige, the trim should match. Also, if the lighting fixtures themselves are white, the trim should match accordingly.

When it comes to the size and shape of the room, the color of the trim should complement the existing color scheme in order to create an aesthetically pleasing and cohesive look. For example, in a smaller room, it is usually best to choose a light or neutral color for the recessed lighting trim in order to make the space appear larger.

In a larger room, darker or bolder colors can be used to create a more expansive, elegant feel.

Finally, the type of lighting can also play a role in the color of the trim. For example, if the fixtures are brass or bronze, the trim should match the finish of the fixtures. In the same way, if the fixtures are black or chrome, the trim color should match accordingly.

Overall, the color that is chosen for the recessed lighting trim should blend well with the ceiling, walls, shape of the room, and type of lighting fixtures in order to create an aesthetically pleasing and cohesive look.

What does recessed mean in lighting?

In lighting, recessed means having or placed in a hollowed out or sunken space. It is often used to describe lighting fixtures and household lamps that are built into the ceiling. Recessed lights create a seamless look and give the room a more modern and smoother appearance.

They also have the advantage of not taking up wall or floor space, making them a popular choice for smaller more confined areas like closets and hallways. Recessed lighting can come in a variety of styles and can be a great way to add light to any room without it being too bright.

In addition to the style, there are also energy efficient recessed lights available that help to conserve energy and cost less to operate.

What is the difference between can lights and recessed lights?

Can lights, also known as housing lights, are fixtures that are placed into a cut out hole in the ceiling. Once in the ceiling, the lights are connected to a canister that houses the electric components and the lightbulb.

Can lights are used to provide both general and task lighting.

Recessed lights are similar to can lights, in that they are installed into a cut out hole in the ceiling, but the difference is that recessed lights do not require an individual canister to house the electric components.

The space of the cut-out is enough to accommodate housing of the electric components. Recessed lights are mostly used to provide general lighting to larger areas, as they spread light in a wide area.

Do I need a can for recessed lighting?

Yes, you will need to use a can for recessed lighting. A recessed light can is a housing created specifically to hold a can light (also known as a downlight). These cans are placed inside ceilings to provide general illumination and feature various shapes, sizes, and depths.

Without a can, you will not be able to properly set up a recessed light. When choosing a recessed can, you will need to take into account the size and wattage of the bulb, the wattage needed for the entire fixture, and the air tightness.

Since the can will serve to protect the bulb from the elements and maintain a comfortable indoor environment. When installing the can, you should make sure it is adequately insulated and electrically grounded, as required by your local building codes.

Can you put regular light bulbs in can lights?

No, regular light bulbs should not be put into can lights. Standard light bulbs are designed to be used in fixtures that use a socket to hold the bulb in place, and the heating element in regular light bulbs is not suitable for use in recessed lighting fixtures.

Instead, you should use bulbs specifically designed for use in can lights, such as compact fluorescent, halogen, or LED bulbs. All of these types of bulbs are made to be used in recessed lighting fixtures, and they all come with their own features and benefits that are ideal for can lights.

When should you use recessed lights?

Recessed lights are an ideal choice for any type of room because they provide ambient and directional lighting. They also reduce glare and shadows, making them better for task lighting. Recessed lighting is typically used in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, staircases, and any other space that would benefit from soft, general illumination.

They range in size from small to large and come in a variety of styles and finishes, allowing you to customize the look and feel of your home. Furthermore, recessed lights are relatively easy to install and can be used in any part of your home, both indoors and outdoors.

In addition, their low-profile design makes them great for providing subtle illumination without videoing up any unnecessary space.
