What is the way to rest your tongue?


Resting your tongue properly is a simple yet effective step in maintaining good oral health. The tongue plays a crucial role in speech, taste, and even digestion. Therefore, it is essential to know how to rest your tongue properly.

To rest your tongue correctly, the first thing you need to do is relax your jaw muscles. This can be done by closing your mouth and taking a deep breath in through your nose. Then, exhale slowly through your mouth, letting your jaw muscles relax naturally.

Next, place your tongue gently on the roof of your mouth. It should be in a comfortable and relaxed position, not pressing too hard against the roof of your mouth or pointing upward towards your teeth.

It’s important to note that mouth breathing can negatively affect the position of the tongue and decrease overall oral health. Nasal breathing, on the other hand, allows for proper tongue resting and increased saliva production to aid in digestion.

Also, if you find yourself clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth, consciously relaxing your jaw muscles can go a long way in reducing headaches and tension in the face.

The way to rest your tongue properly is to relax your jaw muscles, breathe through your nose, and gently place your tongue on the roof of your mouth in a comfortable position.
