What’s the difference between AppleCare and AppleCare Plus?

The primary difference between AppleCare and AppleCare Plus is the level of protection offered. AppleCare is a basic one year warranty that covers any hardware faults, but does not include accidental damage from accidents or any other form of misuse.

AppleCare Plus, on the other hand, includes up to two years of coverage for hardware faults and also includes coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage due to handling, such as a cracked screen or liquid damage, each subject to a service fee.

AppleCare Plus also includes 24/7 technical support from Apple.

What is not covered by AppleCare+?

AppleCare+ does not cover loss or theft of your device, as well as any normal wear and tear or damage from mishandling or misuse. Additionally, AppleCare+ does not cover cosmetic damage, so any scratches or dents your device may receive are not eligible for repair under this plan.

AppleCare+ does not cover any defect or malfunction due to unauthorized alterations to the product or software, or alterations by an unauthorized service provider. It also does not cover repairs caused by accidents or mishandling that occur outside of the warranty terms, or issues caused by software or virus migration.

Finally, AppleCare+ does not cover any repair services performed by anyone other than Apple, or any services performed without the prior authorization of Apple.

You can use Apple’s Express Replacement Service to replace your device quickly and conveniently — usually with next-business-day service.

In addition, AppleCare+ provides coverage for eligible software issues under the terms of your AppleCare+ agreement. This includes assistance with Apple-branded software applications and operating systems, as well as assistance with connection to basic network and Internet services.

Is AppleCare for all products?

No, AppleCare is not available for all products. AppleCare is a comprehensive extended warranty program offered by Apple for select products, including Mac computers, iPads, iPhones and Apple Watches.

All AppleCare plans provide customers with free and direct access to Apple’s technical support team as well as an extended warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship for a specified period of time.

However, not all products are eligible for AppleCare. While all Apple products are covered by a one-year limited warranty, AppleCare extends the time period for repair or replacement of these products and can include additional benefits such as phone support and accidental damage protection.

To view which products are eligible for AppleCare and to purchase a plan, customers can visit Apple’s website to learn more about their options.
