Why can’t I delete songs from iTunes Library?

It is generally not possible to delete songs directly from the iTunes Library because the iTunes application stores songs in the iTunes Music folder. This folder is usually located in the “My Music” directory on your computer.

The iTunes Library acts as a record-keeping tool to keep track of the songs imported into the iTunes Music folder. Therefore, if you want to delete a song from the iTunes Library, you must remove it from the iTunes Music folder.

To remove songs from the iTunes Music folder, you must open the iTunes Music folder through File Explorer or Finder. After locating the song you intend to delete, right click on the song, select Delete, and then confirm deletion.

Make sure you are deleting the actual media file, and not an underlying iTunes file. Once the file has been deleted, the song should no longer appear in the iTunes Library.

Why do deleted songs reappear on iPhone?

Deleted songs can reappear on your iPhone for a variety of reasons. One possible cause is that you may have synced the songs from a computer or a cloud-based music service and forgotten about it, so the songs are restored when you sync or back up your iPhone.

In this case, you can go to the Music settings on your iPhone and turn off the synchronization or automatic updating of music from a computer or a cloud-based music service to prevent the re-appearance of deleted songs.

Another possible cause may be that iTunes Match is turned on, and you have purchased the song from the iTunes Store but deleted it afterwards. In this case, when iTunes Match is enabled, the songs are re-downloaded from the iTunes Store and restored to your iPhone.

To prevent deleted songs from being restored, you can turn off iTunes Match by going to the Music settings page. Additionally, if you are using an Apple Music subscription, turn off the Automatic Downloads mode in the Music settings on your iPhone to prevent re-downloads of songs that were previously deleted.

The app also stores artwork, lyrics and streaming audio and video, which can contribute to the amount of storage Apple Music occupies. Additionally, Apple Music stores bookmarks which are used to remember where the user was in a particular song, album or playlist.

Why do my songs in iTunes have an exclamation mark?

The exclamation mark appearing next to some of your songs in iTunes can be caused by various problems with the metadata associated with the song. This can happen if the file is damaged, or hasn’t been properly “tagged” with the metadata for the song.

Some other common causes of the exclamation marks are if you are accessing your music library over a network, or if the content was purchased from another country’s iTunes store.

In order to fix this issue, the first step is to ensure that the files are not corrupted. This can be done by checking the bitrate and other details from within iTunes. Additionally, making sure that the correct metadata is associated with the song by validating or editing the song information can help.

If the files are found to be in good health, then making sure that the library is located on the same network as the computer can help as well. This means that all your music files need to be in the same location, on the same network and accessible to the same computer.

Finally, if the music was purchased from another country’s iTunes store, then the music needs to be transferred to the proper store. This can be done by downloading the songs again, or by using Apple’s “Re-Download” feature.
