Why doesn’t my Kindle app have Text-to-Speech?

Your Kindle App may not have Text-to-Speech capability due to the fact that the Kindle App doesn’t currently have the capability to convert the digital text of books and other materials into audio. Kindle e-readers on the other hand, are able to access Text-to-Speech capabilities through a program called VoiceView, which speaks aloud the contents of the book or other material.

This feature is only available on certain devices, so if your Kindle App is not compatible with VoiceView, then it isn’t able to have Text-to-Speech enabled. It is also important to note that some publishers do not support Text-to-Speech on their publications, meaning that they will not allow books or other materials to be read aloud on any device.

In this case, Text-to-Speech will not be available on your Kindle App either.
